In response to an email by local Brighton campaign group ‘Stop L3Harris’, London & Brighton (L&B) Plating’s Director Stefan De Lillis said:

“[L3 Harris] were informed on Monday 17th February that we would cease trade with them with immediate effect… we had one batch of work left on site, which was returned un-processed”

L&B Plating provided a specialist metal finishing process to L3 Harris, whose Brighton factory produces bomb release mechanisms for F-35 fighter jets, which are used by Israel to massacre people in Palestine and Lebanon.

As the service L&B Plating provided was very specialised and local to the L3 Harris factory, it will cause significant supply chain disruptions for the F-35 fighter jet maker.

The termination of trade with L3 Harris came just four days after activists from Palestine Action spray-painted the Brighton company’s premises with messages such as “Drop L3” and “Free Palestine”. The building was also covered with red paint, to symbolise the company’s complicity in Palestinian bloodshed.

The campaign against L&B Plating involved the local community, from groups such as ‘Break the Chain Brighton and Stop L3 Harris’, picketing the factory on three occasions from November 2024.

L&B Plating join a series of companies which have ended their association with the production of Israeli weapons following a targeted direct action campaign. Palestine Action’s campaign has seen Barclays, lobby group APCO, machinery suppliers, recruiters, landlords and more terminate their ties to Israeli weapons firm Elbit Systems.

A Palestine Action spokesperson said:

“This victory signifies the power of direct action and community groups embracing a diversity of tactics. Through targeted actions, we can collectively break the links in Israel’s military supply chain.”
