In another victory for Palestine Action in the fight against Elbit Systems, Manchester-based metal components manufacturer Dean Group International has confirmed in an email to Palestine Action that it has severed all ties with Elbit Systems UK subsidiary Instro Precision, and has promised never to work with Elbit Systems or its subsidiaries in the future. This comes less than three weeks after Dean Group was targeted by Palestine Action in a direct action campaign exposing their complicity in the production of Israeli weapons.
Dean Groupโs โcommitment not to engage with the Elbit or Instro supply chainsโ follows a rooftop occupation and property sabotage at Dean Groupโs site in Irlam, Greater Manchester on 31 March 2025 [1], where activists scaled the factory roof and drenched the building in blood-red paint โ a visual representation of the Palestinian bloodshed enabled by companies like Dean Group that supply parts for Elbitโs weapons manufacturing. The same Irlam site was struck in July 2024, when activists dismantled its occupation-enabling products [2]. Dean Group were confirmed to have been supplying Instro Precision when activists entered the Instro premises in Kent [3], where the formerโs materials were found alongside the sniper sights and weapons components which Instro exports en-masse to Israel [4].
During previous direct actions at Elbitโs Instro Precision facility in Broadstairs, Kent, Palestine Action uncovered evidence of subcontracted metal parts supplied by Dean Group being used within the site. Instro Precision is known to manufacture surveillance and targeting equipment used by the Israeli military in its attacks on Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Following the March action, Dean Group formally confirmed to Palestine Action that it had terminated all business relations with Instro Precision and would categorically not engage with Elbit Systems or its subsidiaries going forward.
This latest victory mirrors a series of wins by Palestine Action in their campaign to dismantle the supply chain that enables Israeli warfare, including but not limited to:
- In 2023, recruitment firm iO Associates dropped Elbit Systems following repeated actions. [5]
- In 2024, their suppliers Hydrafeed [6], lobbyists APCO Worldwide [7], and hauliers Kuehne+Nagel [8] all cut ties with Elbit after being targeted by Palestine Action.
- Most recently, Fisher German confirmed they would no longer manage property for Elbitโs drone production site in Shenstone. [9]
A Palestine Action spokesperson said:
โAnother link in Elbitโs war machine has been smashed. Dean Groupโs decision to walk away from Instro Precision โ and to reject Elbit Systems entirely โ proves that sustained direct action works. This is not just a symbolic win โ itโs an operational blow to Elbitโs ability to produce the weapons used to massacre Palestinians.โ
Palestine Actionโs direct action campaign continues to target Elbit Systems and all those who facilitate its business. With every broken contract and severed supply line, the campaign moves closer to its goal: shutting Elbit down for good.
